I recently tried out Meguiar’s Cleaing Wax on my black Toyota 4Runner. Here are my observations.

1. Solid cleaning wax. Car had a nice clean shine to it and it appeared to remove most dirt off the car. My rags were all dirty afterwards, despite having just cleaned the car. So it does a good job of gettting off the dirt.
2. Not a true ‘Finishing Wax’. The compound does a good job of cleaning it, but if you want a longer lasting shine, you will have to go with a 3 stage compound. One with a cleaner, refiner and finisher.

Summary: Since you’ll have to wash the car before hand, then use the cleaning wax, you might as well go with a 3 stage system. Just a touch more work for better results. But it is a good product and for a one prouct use its pretty solid.

I give it 8 of 10 stars and add it to my auto parts recommended list. Next time I intend to try the NXT stuff.

It is that time to start thinking about summer car maintance.  Summer heat can be brutal on a car and especially in this economy, its worth a few cents now to save dollars later. We did a piece on the A/C but here are a few other tips.

1. Time to flush the radiator and refill with new coolant.
2. Inspect the tires for pressure. Heat can cause tires to blow if they are not inflated properly.
3. new oil filter and new oil to keep the engine running in the high heat.

Time to get the A/C Season in shape for summer.   Don’t want to be stuck in the heat without AC.  A couple of tips.

1. Always buy new. You can get lots of new A/C Compressors here.
2. Always change the drier and orifice tube (if applicable)
3. Always flush the system and put in new oil and new freon.

A/C systems are violent and difficult, not worth cutting corners on.
